Huge Shipment Volume

According to a recent report from Strategy Analytics, global smartphone screen shipments reached a record high of 1.14 billion units in 2020, up 6% from 2019. This growth was driven by increased demand for larger screens, as well as the rise of 5G technology and foldable displays.

Samsung Display was the top vendor in this market, accounting for 44% of all smartphone screen shipments. BOE and Tianma followed closely behind, with 18% and 10% market share, respectively. OLED displays remained the most popular type of screen technology, making up 56% of all shipments.

The COVID-19 pandemic had a minor impact on the smartphone screen market, with disruptions to supply chains and a decrease in overall consumer spending. However, increased demand for remote work and entertainment helped boost sales of larger screens.

Looking ahead, the report predicts continued growth in the smartphone screen market, with 5G technology and foldable displays expected to become even more prevalent. Additionally, the rise of virtual and augmented reality may further drive demand for larger and higher-quality screens.

Overall, the global smartphone screen market is expected to remain a key area of growth and innovation in the technology industry for years to come.
